Good day, all.
New member from Massachusetts, where my gun was made, but where you struggle to find an FFL who'll transfer a DW in from out of state, due to the foolish "consumer protection" laws floating around here.
Owner of a 6" Monson 15-2 that I bought new over 35 years ago. Much loved, but little shot in the past 25 years. Had it out at the range yesterday though, and I'm remembering just how much fun that gun is to shoot.
Ended up here looking for information on screw torques and loctite usage after I found the small side plate screw missing during cleaning. Found a NOS one online (for a silly price and worse shipping). Waiting for its arrival to get everything back into place.
Seriously love shooting this one. Only thing that stops me from doing it more is the nuisance that I find cleaning a revolver to be. Still, this one may be worth it.

Toast, welcome and please throw the loctite away. It should never be used on a Dan. At least not on a screw or nut. Sideplate screws and barrel nuts should be tightened snugly but not overly hard. Read the "Average Joe Tuneup" pinned to one o the topics. It is either small frame Revolvers or gunsmithing. If you ever need springs or screws, Member Snake-eye can fix you up inexpensively. He has a hoard of small parts that we collaborated on.
Cleaning a Dan is actually fairly easy. The barrel and shroud removed make it a breeze. You can do the full tuneup or just an oiling. If you have any problems just ask the forum.

Yeah, I found the info on non-use of loctite, and I've been removing / checking the barrel as needed from the get-go years ago. Never pulled the sideplate, but I likely will start as part of a winter "deep clean" that I tend to do on other guns. I'll keep Snake-Eye in mind for small bits in the future (again, another thing I found after coming here).
