I go by MACE.
I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I recently retired after 30 something years as an aircraft structural designer at (guess where).
I've been a shooter and gun enthusiast since about 1976 when my dad bought me a Ruger New Model Blackhawk .357/9mm convertible (which I still have) and an RCBS single stage reloading press (which I also still have) and two boxes of Remington ammo (which I reloaded until the case necks cracked - and I don't still have).
I have been interested in DW revolvers since first seeing those awesome pistol packs in the gun magazines in the late seventies - but I have never owned one. I still don't own one, but my future son-in-law (probably) has a "blue" 44 magnum that he got used and has carried for all kinds of out door adventures for several years. My daughter recently told me that after he cleaned it one day, it started locking up sporadically. I'm very mechanically inclined and a better than average amateur gun plumber so I asked if I could take a look at it.
Is there a thread for the ugliest DW revolver? I think I'll call this 44 "Meff" because it's pretty Meffed up and looks like it has a Meff habit. I actually like the idea of a fright pig that runs like a race horse, so that's my goal. Make it run great and love the patina.
Anyway, I learned a lot on this forum already this morning and was able to diagnose the lock-up and ordered a barrel wrench. Next step is full disassembly and tune. I plan to make the process a thread.
My other hobbies include riding and working on dirt bikes, fast cars and keeping my kids junkers running.
Thanks for letting me stop by.

BTW, is there already an illustrated thread on step-by-step disassembly of the solid large frame revolver? I found this thread which will probably get me there, but I don't want to re-invent the wheel if there is already a good-un that I just didn't find. https://www.danwessonforum.com/forum/revolvers/dw-744-disassembly/

Let us know how your work on the DW turns out. Some Pics would also be great!
