You just never know what will turn up in the used case at Cabela's. Last week I was at the store on Rt. 78 in PA, and found a Monson, 8" barrel .357 in stainless, for a stupid price. Needless to say, it came home with me.
Thanks to joining this forum, I now know I have a mid 80s gun, accuired barrel tool that released the barrel with no problem, and know the feeling of being in an exclusive club of owners of a revolver legendary for it's accuracy.
Never before have I had a gun that drew stares and comments at the range. But, by the time all 8" of barrel had cleared the case, people were stopping to see what it was.
It's my first revolver, first .357, and I am hooked!

Viking, to the . Great find in Hamburg, PA. We should get together as I'm in Emmaus, PA. I too have had the "what's that" at the range, especially a .44 Mag with a VH8 barrel all shiny and almost black! Now I believe you have contracted and there is no cure except to !
You know .

Congratulations on your 715. I've visited the Hamburg Cabela's a couple of times, what I remember most is being pretty tired, it seemed huge. 715 8" commands a lot of attention, and although .357 is a pretty common caliber, it's got a "bark" that makes everyone look.
Welcome to DWF.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Welcome!
Congrats, on the find, and it only gets better over time. If you really want to draw attention, try handing hte gun your daughter at 100 lbs and have her getting 4" patterns at 10 yards, on her first time out. (or beating you on knock down plates)...

Thanks to all for the welcomes. BTW, I do know how to spell "acquired", not certain what happened to the proofreading! I promise some pics of my 715 shortly. The first few range visits have been a, can I say blast? Awesome gun. the sights and I seem to be working out what each expects of the other, and it sure is fun
best,
Chris
