This pistol is the sweetest shooting 357 I have ever shot. Liked it so much, I bought another.    I have had this one over 25 years.  Is there any way to determine the year or manufacture?  Just found the serial number listing,  seems mine was mfr in 77,  the one I just bought was mfr in 79.   Hope the newer one shoots as good as my first one

I am in Virginia

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the Forum from NC. Seems like you've answered your own questions as to manufacture date. There should be very little difference in these two revolvers, and assuming they are in normal working order they should both have the accuracy DW is known for. The only subtle difference could be with the upper crane leg. Sometime around 1978 DW changed the upper crane leg to have a flange that the cylinder rested against in the forward position. The older ones do not have this flange, and so the cylinder collar is resting directly on the frame. The exact timeline of this is hard to pin down. Your revolvers may very well be identical, and it makes no difference in how they shoot, just something interesting to check out. How about some photos!

Good to have you around the DWF!  Glad you were able to find some info on your revolvers.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

dwf-welcome to the dwf

The CTG in the rollmark is not part of the model number, it is just an abbreviation for cartridge.

Nah, your not bad, but it does sound like you have the beginnings of Dan Wesson Acquisition Syndrome. Known as DWAS. That could be BAD. It is incurable but can be put into remission by low funds or lack of safe room.

Short answer is yes, but both of your revolvers are DW Model 15-2's as to year of manufacture. Models 14 and 15 are pork chops; entirely different animals, and yes their barrels would be interchangeable. The only difference between a 14 and a 15 is the rear sights; one fixed and one adjustable. The barrels are identical as far as I know; others may have more information. Going forward, a 14-2 barrel is the same as a 15-2 and would also interchange. The discrepancy is in the height of the front sight on the pork chops, and of course the barrel shrouds themselves. So, if you're asking if a model 14 barrel will fit onto a model 15-2, the answer is no. A model 14-2 onto a model 15-2; yes.

The model 14-2 on a 15-2 will not shoot to point of aim. It will shoot too high for the elevation screw to compensate. The vendor EWK may have conversion front sights. The pin would have to be knocked out and the new sight pinned in. Or aim low.
