I have a Monson Mass 22mag in stainless with a VH 6 inch barrel, Serial # 22MS001149.  I have owned this gun since 1991 and it was purchased used at that time from a gun shop in upstate New York . I am unable to find any information really about it. Does anyone have any thoughts on this. Thanks.....G

Yes, I think you have owned the gun too long. I will be glad tohelp you with your burden.. big-grin.

Actually, you have a very nice gun. We have a date registry that may give you an indication of when it was made. That is the closest we can do. All records have disappeared into the black hole called the BATF. If Stinger was not on an Alaskan cruise he would post a link. Steve will probably check in with an estimate. I would guess around 1986.

Thank you sir. Unless my eye sight has completely gone I saw no mention of 22 mags at all, just 22LR's.

They are very  scarce. The registry is a work in progress. The serial number format was adopted in 1986. After 1991 the roll mark became Palmer. That is the possible time frame. Guessing it is closer to 91 than 86.

Hello - you have a very desirable DW...shoot it often!

Hey, how about some pics please (of the gun)?!

I just got back from a 14 day Alaskan cruise, it is absolutely beautiful.  Saw lots of whales, orca's, mountain goats, sea lions, dolphin, hundreds of eagles, and a brown bear.  I sold a 22 Win. Mag. but it was also a First Issue from Norwich it sold for 1975.00.  It also had the original box and paperwork and accessories.

Worth every penny Don! Guys, Don has a bloodhound nose for finding quality, rare Dan Wesson's. Definitely one of the most knowledgeable folks in the DW pricing world today. Glad you are back and safe!!

Welcome to the forum Gary !

Don, I'm currently in Vancouver on the way back home. I was also lucky to see all the wildlife you mentioned, except the brown bear, but did see a black bear eating a fish next to a creek. Alaska is very beautiful, but the coolest thing I witnessed was icebergs "calving" into the ocean from a Glacier and an excursion into the Canadian Yukon Territory along the 1890's Gold Rush trails.

+I was lucky to have a fishing trip back in 1995 for 5 days did salmon on the Kenia fly in to remote lakes for sockeye, northern pike and ran out on cook inlet to halibut fish. The whole trip was a eye opener of the wonders of Alaska. got to fly over glaciers and see the largest untouched mountain of chromium ore. Back to the topic you have one of the most sought after calibers in the Dan Wesson line up! If you should decide to sell you could be in the ballpark at $1800 to $2500 depending on condition and any extras. barrels, tool, box, paper work, etc. post-picsdrool

Sorry guys for the delay. This is the best that I could do at this time. I have put maybe 150 rounds through it since I got it years ago. It is a good shooter but not one of the guns that I grab when heading to the range. I have (2) 715's and a 15-2 also. The multiple barrel pictures are one of the 357's. Another gun that has only seen maybe 300 rounds through it. I believe that 3 barrels have never been shot.  Ok, I give up on the pictures. I have two of the same and can not figure how to delete one of them. Thanks for the information guys.....GDan-Wesson-22.jpgImage Enlarger

Great looking guns!

Never seen engraving like that on a barrel. Did that get done much in DW ? Was it factory, factory special order, or aftermarket?

No fair you guys getting to do an Alaska trip. I have wanted to for years. Not sure I will ever get to arrange it.
