I lucked out, my in laws were moving from the city to the country so my father in law wanted to sell his Dan Wesson 715 he bought back in the 80's. He wanted $500 or trade for a .22 bolt gun for his new property. I just so happened to have a Savage .22 I hardly shoot anymore so I was able to make a trade.
First thing I did was find this sight and it's wealth of knowledge. Within a couple days I had the thing torn down to every last bit and I ran all the parts through my glass bead blaster at work and it was all factory fresh. The gun looks great with a nice satin silver finish.
I quickly got to work ordering parts and accessories for my new revolver, all said and done I got the following:
- New Glaco Fletch holster
- Hogue black rubber grips
- Hogue rosewood exotic grips
- Factory CZ spring kit, sight and firing pin cross pins, new factory trigger and hammer (will explain that one later)
- 2 sets of Wolff reduced power springs
- EWK fiber optic front sight
- Factory .006 shim
I was pretty disappointed with the .006 shim, I was expecting a nice gauge with handle etc but it was literally a small washer that's really hard to line up while installing the barrel. I've resorted to using a .006 feeler gauge until I order an EWK gauge.
The reason I got the hammer and trigger was because in my older gun it looked like my parts were sintered and the new parts were bar stock. My intent was to polish the whole pistol and the sintered parts wouldn't polish right. Unfortunately after flitzing the side plate inside I got the same sintered type crevices so I don't think I'll polish the gun anymore.
I put the Wolff springs in and didn't notice a jaw dropping difference like my co-worker got with his Ruger SuperRedhawk with Wolff springs so I put the new factory fresh springs back in.
I really like the rubber grips, not convinced on the rosewood grips yet.
I haven't gotten the EWK sight yet but I'm excited for it.
Anyways I'm here for the knowledge and maybe I'll have some share-worthy knowledge along the way.

Welcome to the DWF .I would like to nominate this "New Members Introduction" for an award. Maybe we could call the award a STEVE ?

Aw Shucks guys, please don't single me out just because I expect New Members to actually post in New Members first.
This seems to exceed the perception/understanding of some new Members (Reading is Fundamental).
Maybe the Award might be named "Gets to Stay on DWF"?
All in fun, and I get it, it's all good.
PS: Shouldn't people who own firearms be able to comprehend a simple request to introduce themselves and say HELLO?
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Yep. Reading is a good fundamental skill to have....
To the paranoid people who check behind shower curtains for murderers:
if you find one...what's your plan?
Actually, a set of automotive feeler gauges are far superior to the little metal shims supplied by DW or EWK. You can choose any size you want. Remember, slid it in freely, do not push it in and force the dedant ball back..Factory specs is. 006 is on the proudest chamber. You may want .004 if your cylinder face is even and perpendicular.
