Yeah, I happen to like Remington 788's also. I have been lurking in the shadows for quite a while, & finally decided to join in the madness that is called the DWF.
I live in Boyd, Wisconsin, (pop.625) and am active in the local fire dept. and ambulance, a member of the village board, and a trustee in my church. Somehow I still manage to have a great love affair with my guns (I hope my wife doesn't see this, oh well she knows anyway).
I have 2 sons and a daughter, all are legally adults, but don't always act like it. Oh yeah, I better get to the Dans I own, cuz that's why I'm here. I have a 7445 VH8 (CZ) , 740 V8 (Norwich 1st issue), 22VH8 (Monson), 2- 15-2's VH8,VH4 (monson) , and a Pointman2. I got exposed to Dan's while shooting silhouette (amateur, never a sanctioned match), at the time I was shooting a 357 made by the "other Wesson" (686 8 3/8) and was consistently getting beat by a 715 and a 40. The owners of the Dan's let me shoot their Dan's and I was sold. It took some time before I finally managed to get one.

Another father/son team here is great! The Dan Wessons have that tendency to beat the others...better to join them than compete against them. Nice rounded collection of DW's you have there.

My dad gave me a Remington 788 .243 when I was about 12 or 13. Still my favorite centerfire rifle!

Oh yeah, my 788 "collection" consists of a 6mm, 7mm08, 30-30, 243, 222, and a 308 hey superdan, did I forget any???

I had a nice 788 in 308...guy in Germany paid me a pile of cash for it a few years back.

Welcome to DWF- I see that in addition to your gun addictions, you are also burdened with a cocky little twerp of a son too (old fart, indeed!). Mine still hates the fact that I'm a better pistol shooter than he is, and I rarely let him forget it.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Well, with anything but a pistol he has me beat, I only shoot pistol, and he shoots most everything else (and I mean EVERTHING).

Yeah, can't out shoot him anymore(very often) might as well love him. But he outshoots me with rifle & revolver!!! My other son is military (seved in Iraq) and doesn't get into shooting like superdan. love him also.

What Branch? Mine's a Gunners Mate in the USCG-currently deployed on a 110' Cutter in the Persian Gulf.

A sargent in the army reserve. convoy lead vehicle. Managed to find an IED once and had injurys , but not bad enough to send him home. Thank God for double armor plating!
Not currently deployed!! Thanks to anyones son who serves his country

Welcome 788 this is becoming a family kind of place. Nice toys, and don't worry, other dad's understand letting the child out shoot us once in a while.
