In Connecticut, this is now an Assault Weapon and must be registered
Yes, there is a threaded barrel lurking under that barely distinguishable screw on cap at the muzzle.
When I pick the barrel up from my gunsmith next Wednesday, it will no longer be an Assault Weapon, the screw on cap will be pinned. It took padded vicegrips to get the cap off, it's been on there for about three years.
I take solace in the fact that the citizens of Connecticut are now so much safer
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thank God I live in Texas. It's just plain silly to pass blanket laws like that. I mean come on, a 22 is now an assault weapon because there are threads on the end of the barrel?
They wouldn't like my glock 23 with a threaded barrel, or my 10/22 with a factory threaded barrel for my "solvent trap".

I got thoroughly trashed on ArfCom CT Hometown Forum for this, everyone there thought I should just register this one and then go thru all the BATFE crap and get a supressor.
No real interest in going thru all that for my 50 ft Bullseye Fun Gun.
Next up is the S&W Model 59 9mm. Also an Assault Weapon in CT (mag capacity), which I was just going to live with, and register.
But, the opportunity to trade for a 39-2 with someone has come up, and I'm going for it. He (not living in CT) can own a 59, and a 39-2 is within the mag limit in CT.
And, since my AR is now an Assault Weapon (and will be registered) I can go ahead and put and adjustable stock on it, which was not possible before.
Life hands you lemons, make lemonade
