I thought I would share this... seen it posted in the gun shop yesterday...
Pelosi Calls For Gun Registration, Opposes D.C. Gun Reform Legislation |
Friday, April 10, 2009 |
In February, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) rightly rejected Attorney General Eric Holder's call for renewing the so-called "assault weapons" ban, which expired in 2004 after Congress refused to renew it. However, on Tuesday, on ABC's "Good Morning America," Pelosi said, "we [members of Congress] have to find some level of compromise" on guns. She noted that the Supreme Court, in District of Columbia v. Heller, ruled that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to guns. But, she said, "We want them registered." Pelosi also used the word "draconian" to describe legislation before Congress to reform D.C.'s gun laws. Apparently referring to the provision of that legislation that would permit residents of D.C. to buy handguns in Maryland and Virginia, Pelosi added, "we don't want them crossing state lines." Pelosi's objection to exempting D.C. residents from the Gun Control Act's ban on sales of handguns (even by dealers) between residents of different states is misplaced, not only because there is only one handgun dealer in the District, but because the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) has rendered the interstate sales ban pointless and unnecessary. A D.C. resident buying a handgun will be subject to the same instant background check, regardless of where the sale occurs. Pelosi objected to the fact that disagreement over the D.C. gun legislation is preventing a vote on legislation to give the District a voting member in the House. To say the least, we regret that the Speaker of the House believes it more important to give the D.C. Delegate a vote on the House floor than to protect D.C.'s law-abiding residents' right to defend themselves from criminals. Meanwhile, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the Senate sponsor of the now-expired federal "assault weapons" ban, said on a CBS "60 Minutes" program to be aired on Sunday that she is only temporarily holding off on introducing legislation to reinstate the ban. "I'll pick the time and place. No question about it," Feinstein said. |

They want registration so it's easy to go house to house and collect everything when/if martial law is implimented..
Big brother is really the big banks and the Builderburger group that control this military machine and the fasle flag operations that keep the war ball rolling..
They own the entire major media....
You need to look behind the curtain..the truth is still on the web here..
not for long though....

It's time that someone pointed out to these people that "we, the people" don't care what they want. They are required to vote what we want. I have pointed this out to my congressman and senators. Everyone should do the same.

I strongly agree with your position zoommb! One of the pillars of our Constitution is the principle of the United States being governed as a representative republic. There has not been much in the way of representation in our Congress for many years...under both political parties. As a result, we are being governed from the top down rather than the opposite. (Things are especially bad now.) President Obama wasn't lying when he said he was going to "level the playing field" and that "the pain was going to trickle up". The whole darn Country is sideways right now.
I continually call and email my representatives, but its hard to tell what impact, if any, its having. As far as I see it, the "train's done left the tracks" and if it doesn't stop soon there won't be much to salvage when it does.
While I'm very proud to be an American, I cannot say the same about the manner in which Government has been conducting its business.

I still live under the AWB in CT, and essentially, we do have registration. Every handgun transaction requires state approval number (which requires verification of both parties CCW Permit #) and copies of a form that goes to the state and the local Chief of Police of the purchaser.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
