Reports say special forces and Navy Seals ended his life in a short fire fight.
Celebrate maybe, watch our backs, for sure. Should have taken prisoner, your personal take, either way, it just wasn't right that he was waking this earth a free man. Overall reports around the world very positive overall.

Navy Seals operations are pretty much a big secret. I'm guessing the fire fight was very short the way those seals shoot. I heard on TV he was shot in the head. I'll bet that was the first shot and the fire fight was after that. Burial at sea is a good idea. Only the sharks know just where he is.

While I am certain there will be repercussions, I overall think this is a good thing that sends an absolute message. Republician or Democrat, from one president to another ... American is not a country to be messed with. I don't think it will stop terrorism, but the job of being a high profile mouthpiece for such, will be a job few will want to apply for after this. I see is son won't be applying for the job either. I do wonder at Pakistan. They are now in a precarious position. Both with us (USA) and with the terror groups they have housed.

I have to say I'm a little skeptical.
1. Let's go into this house where he's supposed to be though we've not seen him come in or go out in the 8 months we've been watching it.
2. Ask him to surrender. When he says no, just shoot him.
3. Shoot him in the face to make it difficult, at best, to ID him.
4. Test his DNA against his sister's. We've been told that this takes at least 2 weeks. However, Seal Team 6 accomplishes it in a matter of a few hours.
5. Bury him at sea in the Muslim tradition (since when). When they get through burying the 1.2 billion Muslims that are currently alive, the sea is going to be in pretty sad shape. However, if he's been buried at sea, there's no body that someone can look at and say "that's not him".
If it's too good to be true....

Mike,
I understand your skepticism but realistically BO can't be that stupid to have faked this. It's too big. First, Bin Laden and Al-Jazeera would be making much noise that he was either never there or survived the attack. Second, I have trouble believing BO could come up with one, let alone 24, Seals that would go along with the hoax. Third, you would be surprised how quickly something can be done if one plans in advance for it. The actual DNA test probably only takes a few hours to perform. Most of the two weeks is spent collecting the sample, moving it to the lab, waiting to do the test, waiting to do the report, yada, yada. It wouldn't surprise me if they started the testing as soon as they had the carcass on a chopper. I know all politicians, and especially it seems BO, tell some real stretchers. I just can't believe they would be stupid enough to try on this one. Just my .02 and probably worth half what you paid for it.

Here's my take on this:
The seed information developed many years ago that started this process came from "enhanced interrogation" at Club Gitmo. Who condemned enhanced interrogation and vowed to shut down the detention center at Guantanamo? And then didn't?
Very little has changed, millions (billions?) of people hate and fear us. The death of one sick old man changes little except to give those haters a touchstone or landmark to help build their hate. Be vigilant, aware, and ready.
The Pakistani government and leaders almost certainly knew where to find Bin Laden, at least at an unofficial level. The "Friend of my Enemy, is My Enemy".
Finally,
Who recently announced his re-election plans?
Who singlehandedly (hint: his Sunday speech was all about "I, I, I") executed the highest profile Military/Intelligence operation in recent history?
Who thinks we are this stupid?
Sorry to ask such easy questions, but the contempt in which our Leader holds us has made me even dumber.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

The stupid thing I see is all the bragging about a treasure trove of info. Sheesh! Why doesn't the WH just say "Do everything different because we now know everything.". There so busy bragging they are being really stupid. Oh, and where's the concern for the tech that was in the chopper that was left? The Seals probably have that one covered with the way they destroyed it, but still not much concern about that.

The office "Bin Laden is Dead" party is tonight
The talk around the office is what we would have given to go on a raid like that. It really doesn't get much better than that.
About the intel thing. The bad guys have to assume that if we hit the compound, we got everything of value there, so they are going to
A: Run. Run far and fast.
and
B: Change the way they do things
There is no real downside to announcing we got a lot of good info. If anything, it confirms to the bad guys that we did get it, and hopefully make them rush to get out of dodge. When they rush, they make mistakes, and we can send more teams to handle business. I predict quite a few good direct action missions in the coming months.
Also, there is no way that Bin Laden was ever going into US custody alive. I would be completely fine if he got shot in the face while trying to surrender. Alive, he is a cause for bad guys around the world, and something to be bargained for. Dead, the bad guys cause a ruckus for a bit, but even they forget about it after a while. Either way it means we get to kill more terrorists, and we happen to be really, really good at that.
Hope is not a course of action
