Seriously??? All puns aside, doing this in a city with the SECOND HIGHEST CRIME RATE IN THE US, IN A STATE THAT SEVERELY RESTRICTS A CITIZEN'S RIGHT TO CARRY A FIREARM FOR ANY REASON!!!, is a VERY heinous crime in and of itself. Then again, everything happens for a reason and it looks like the Tree of Liberty is going to be getting watered. Sadly, it will be the innocent who get hurt first.

Got this note from a buddy in NJ

Like
it matters….It’s the wild west over there. They lost their position as
the city with the highest per capita murder rate to St Louis last year
and are determined to regain the title. The State Police do some
patrolling and the county DA does some. I was hoping the Governor would
cede it to the National Guard to make it a target site for North
American Defense. They don’t use the one in the Pine lands since hitting
a school 20 miles away (opps). It didn’t hurt any kids, probably did
some good. They have a healthy respect for authority now. “if you don’t
clean that room I am going to call the Navy and have them put a
Sidewinder up your butt”…..

If you're going to drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.

... some of those with desk jobs will be reassigned to the streets...

Kinda like taking an administrative clerk and saying " you wear ACUs and can shoot an M4; welomce to the Infantry"...

certainly there's no problem with that. crackhead

Why can't the government use the teachings from it's own military manuals? Like how the SF books teach how to stabilize an area by creating a sustainable economy, and providing some security to allow commerce to take place without anarchy. Then once the hearts and minds are won the community can continue and perpetuate this on thier own.

Ha ha ha.  That hasn't worked yet wherever we tried it huh? either the population had an IQ of "zombies" or it got politically red-taped to failure.

Bottom line there is no tax base there to support a police force. The next step is when welfare starts getting cut....then the manure really hits the fan!!!

Hence ZOMBIES !

This problem is past the tipping point fellas, hold on, its gonna be a rough ride!

My idea for years has been to teach the gangs how to effectively shoot, then we only have to deal with the few who survive.??

Sad day for all those workers who lost thier jobs. An even worse injustice to any real citizens there who now have to endure the inevitible. My heart goes out to those families, and my hot bullets through the thugs.

Sorry, having Mogidishu flashbacks.

One thing I havn't seen mentioned anywhere is the collateral effect this will have. i.e: how many more officers will leave as a result of this proposed action. I know back when I was a LEO, I would have been looking for another, financially stable department in a non-war zone community to work for as soon as the rumor broke - for the XXth time. So far, every time this "announcement" has been made, it brings in emergency money "just in time." Not taht the money seems to be going to good use...regardless, who the hell wants to work under those conditions??? Being a cop isn't stressful enough, you need to pile this kind of BS on top  of it??? Screwy
