Only a few news outlets were reporting this. Attached to the credit card bill that Obama signed into law today (5/22/09) was an amendment that allows concealed carry of firearms in national parks and wildlife refuges. I guess our president wanted credit card "reform" so badly, he was willing to overlook the firearms provision.

we had an elderly couple around here last year go hiking in our National Forest..
Pisgah National Forest, Brevard NC..
and was jumped by some loser.. got like $200 bucks.. killed them both.. got caught.. but a fellow CCW was asking one of the rangers about carrying in the forest.. they have a .22LR rule here.. and the ranger said.. " we're pretty easy to get along with.. if your carrying.. and not causing trouble.. we don't care what your carrying..and if you kill a loser with your larger cal. gun.. so what... no ones going to care" he also went
onto say that if your a woman hiking alone he wouldn't care if she had a .44 strapped to her hip.. he wouldn't say a word to her.. in all cases you just have to use common sense. ( sorry Obama.. that leaves YOU out !!)
The routes that cross up and over the park ways and go thru the parks are considered thoroughfares and as such are not considered park property.. so if your carrying larger it's ok.. stop along the road and it's a different story.. but mind your bidness and your ok.. at least here in the beautiful..Pisgah Forest//
