I don't want to "take any chances" either. It does not take the murder of my daughter to make me wake up.
In this case, an apparently disturbed person acted out, fatally.
Tragic, and I can't make anyone else prepare to defend her/himself. I can prepare to defend myself, and those around me that I can reasonably protect.
The murder of anyone, pretty white female news reporter or young, black inner city man, is wrong. Not many headlines about the death toll on that demographic accompanied this article.
You can't put a Serial Number on mental illness, so I guess the solution is to deny EVERYONE. The presumption inherent here is that we are all mentally ill, and a potential threat
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
