Thanks for posting this Jody.
Yes, unfortunately there are many issues with this administration and this politician in particular - of which this crazy report is just the tip of the iceberg.
That the Governor of Arizona could possibly be appointed to Homeland Security Director, with such an abysmal record, is indicative of the criteria the current Administration is using to direct the policies of the "new" government.
The Arizona border is completely porous. Phoenix has been, and still is, so far out of control with illegals & the associated crime that it is hard to believe it's an American city. This is the direct result of Janet Napolitano's policies & "leadership". And now this "American bashing" report (it's not just the right getting bashed) is published under her leadership - no one should be surprised.
Additionally, the Federal Government is going after Sheriff Joe Arpaio (Maricopa County, which includes Phoenix) who is absolutely the Gold Standard of law enforcement. Do you suppose Director Napolitano is standing behind and supporting Sheriff Joe??
Restating the obvious, this is a very bad turn for our country.
But here's the problem I have getting my brain around it all: These politicians have all been voted in by a majority. (!) When confronted with complaints the majority say: "We won!" -----> And they have every right to say it!
The answer: Ted Nugent said this at the rally - (my paraphrase) The democrats aren't the problem, Barack Obama is not the problem, the left isn't the problem...AMERICAN APATHY is the problem.
Correct once again Mr. Nugent...We aggravated Americans let this happen.
So, to Charger's point: If we don't like it, we better make sure that we have enough votes to elect people that will do what aligns with the Constitution and what is right for America.
It is time to write your Senators and Representatives and start the wheels in motion to get the bums out and the good guys in. Time to get involved DWF members. Already involved? OUTSTANDING! Time to up the effort then, 'cuz whatever we did last time DIDN'T WORK...
Gee, I sound like I'm ready for some change, don't I?

Maybe I'll get too political here and Jody will shut me down but Dusty your comments and quotes are right on the money. I will go a step further and state in why IMHO we are apathetic as a country and this whether it is popular or not came from a church sermon FIFTEEN Years ago and I have never forgotten it. The American people for the past 20-30 years have been systemattically "dumbed" down by the media & politicians. This "dumbing" has come in the form of overindulging entertainment, sports, electronic devices, toys of every shape and size. The people were so in love with their stuff that they have forgotten about the political world, the loss of social concerns and community volunteers is astounding. Feedom has been taken for granted while pepole just wallowed in their own enjoyment. This has allowed a group of people with hidden controlling agenda to selectively "remove" a once concerned percentage of the voting public. I will not state that I am not guilty of some of the line items mentioned at times, but if you forsake what is important too long as America has we'll find ourselves waking up in a country we don't recognize , or have we already I suppose? I found my children watching more and sometimes awful television than should be about four years ago and simply cancelled the cable and had no antenna, guess what? It was never missed! We are far from sheltered from the world however. My children are well educated on the real issues of America and what it all means, few children are as I here what the school yard talk is like from my kids, and at their young ages even they are appalled. I guess you can see I get rather passionate about this topic and sorry if I overstepped, this just hit a real strong chord and I care deeply about what our forefathers died for.
Thanks,
SMF

I'm betting we could all have a VERY long discussion on this subject and specifically what you just wrote. I completely agree and discuss the "too occupied" problem frequently. Of course we control it as you said, and I love your "intervention" on the TV. Great move!
Glad to hear your level of passion - I feel the same way.

Our appathetic brethren tire of me prior to elections because I keep a stack of voter registration applications nearby in case I get in a discussion and learn they are not registered. I have helped some register and others who will not no longer debate me or even talk about it if they are unwilling to vote. Sadly though, Zoommb You are correct that all this is mostly choir preaching. I do however feel their is at least always one in every rank that needed one more artlicle to read or push to help them exersize their right, so tirelessly we push on even in our own ranks.
It is the least we can do especially for someone as brave and sacrificing as SteveCT's son who has just left on tour.
Good to keep this thread.

Gents,
Couldn't agree more - definitely preaching to the choir. Felt good though and nice to commiserate with you all! That's an interesting statistic about the moderates Mike - that's who we need to get to.
By the way, my wife argues with the twits on TV!!
Keep the faith!

A disgraceful position for the top official in DHS to attempt to justify. As noted, the apology was not for the position taken, but sorry if some vets were upset about it.
We are mesmerized as an American society by entertainment and superficial indulgences, instead of substance. The last Great Depression was solved by a government and it's people that built things and developed infrastructure. This Great Depression will evidently be solved by propping up the folks that developed the economic theory of "derivatives", and an increased level of spending in social services and more government give aways. The Rust Belt continues to rust, highways and bridges continue to crumble, and jobs keep fleeing America (actually, the jobs are not fleeing, we're chasing them out).
More to come when I cool off
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

SMF, I certainly don't see anything wrong with what you have said or others for that matter. That's what this section is for...
While I'm sure for the most part we are preaching to the choir I think sometimes the choir needs some motivation.
It really hit home what I read this sentence, "This “dumbing” has come in the form of overindulging entertainment, sports, electronic devices, toys of every shape and size." on my mobile phone! It makes sense though that everyone seems so involved in what's going on with themselves and leaving to issues of the country to others.
I think this topic has invoked some good discussion and it has certainly made me think about what I can do!
