My wife and I went to an elementary school Christmas play last week before school let out for vacation to watch a young niece of ours perform. It was cold out of course so I wore my DW lettered ball cap. While in the auditorium I saw a young father with a camcorder inch his way toward the stage so he could film his child. He was wearing an NRA cap and his coat was open revealing a shirt with an AR rifle on it with the words "Rock and Roll". My wife looked at me and I said "Oh No". There was talking in the audience
and a couple of teachers were staring at him and whispering. The Principal and an SRO approached him and spoke to him. They both walked him out of the auditorium. Several people applauded. I felt so bad for the young man. They allowed him back in but his coat was zipped all the way up and he was not wearing his cap. He was still trying to get up front to film his child. But I could tell he was uncomfortable. I stood up and waved him over and offered him my seat. My wife smiled to him and I moved to the back till his child's performance was over. In the parking lot he approached me and thanked me. I told him his cap was fine, but the shirt was not a good idea at this place and time. His young wife walked up and told my wife and I she told him not to wear it. I told him that wounds are still fresh and tender. Use sound judgement next time. He agreed. He asked me what did DW stand for on my cap. Dairy Works I said. My wife just grinned and shook her head.

Yes I would say that shirt was inappropriate for a school function. Especiallly at this time. As gun owners we all have a responsibility to put forward a positive image for ourselves.
I applaud you for giving your seat for the moment, and making the young man feel less ostracized for his lack of judgement.

Dantanna,
Your post almost answers your last post in the AR thread you started. The father here showed no respect or common sense. He probably felt he can do whatever he wanted , it's America after all.
The man should listen to his wife, my life got easier when I finally learned to listen to my wife's advice, saved me from more than a few uncomfortable situations.
I'm probably older than you (62) and can remember those things and agree with your other post.
Seems like respect and honor and responsibility for one's actions are not important anymore.
On a lighter note, I like the Dairy Works cap, thinking about getting one for myself. I like Indycar Racing so mine will my Dan Wheldon cap.

I keep a pretty low profile, very few people would ever recognize my DWF hats or shirts for what they are. I rarely wear my Arfcom hat and t-shirt unless I'm "gun shop hopping" or shooting. I will probably re-think my Larue Tactical bumper sticker "God Bless our Troops-Especially the Snipers", however.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
