I think the officer handled this very professionally.  My issue is apparently in CA you can open carry an unloaded gun... why bother?

I agree, that officer displayed a very high amount of cool professionalism. Not sure what the purpose of the video was, seems to me that 'jeremy' is out looking to try to get hassled, but that's just my opinion. I'm with you Jody, walking around with an open carry unloaded pistol serves no desirable purpose.....

Something smells on that one!  At least in Kansas you have to identify yourself if asked by LEO.  Why would you wanna go through the hassle....

Yep, "Jeremy" was absolutely fishing for a confrontation.Confused Takes stones I guess, but it's also foolhardy, IMO. Glad I never did dumb stuff in my 20's.Laugh

HUGE cudo's to Officer Lyons for how he handled the situation!Worship Very professional, well versed in the rights & didn't let it get overblown.

BTW, it cracked my up how he kept holding Jeremy's hand through that whole handshake, not letting go until he was done.rofl

In this big state where I live, a person is required to identify them self if asked by a law enforcement officer.  You cannot lie, i.e. say your name is John Doe or something other than your real name.  You are not required to show an ID unless you have been placed under arrest.  This is of course if you were just out in public or on private land.  If pulled over while driving, you are considered under arrest until released or allowed to continue on your way.

I agree, the officer acted very professional and represents what I wish most in law enforcement would achieve.

The guy with the gun was a douchebag Confused
