Here is an excerpt from an article I just read and thought you guys make find it interesting. Sounds like a very level headed 18 year old.
Some might call it a case of swift Oklahoma justice for at least one of two intruders -- both reportedly high on prescription drugs -- who tried to break into a young widow's home on New Year's Eve.
Sarah McKinley, 18, calmly used a shotgun to shoot and kill one of the men when he forced his way through the front door of her mobile home and past a sofa she had used to barricade it. Now, the second man is facing first-degree murder charges, and McKinley is being hailed as a hero for doing what she believed she had to do to protect herself and her 3-month-old son, Justin.

Read that yesterday on MSN news, sad she just lost her husband day
before Xmas from a battle with cancer and then these two idiots, who
obviously knew the couple, try to break in so they could get the painkillers
the man was on during his treatment.
Of course we may never know the whole story, maybe she had mentioned
to one of the boys about selling the prescriptions or vice versa....who
knows, but they knew each other well enough to know the husband had left
over medication after his death. Not that it is any kind of excuse for what
they did, just saying there is more to this story than we are reading.
Also the part where she said she wouldn't have shot if not for protecting
the baby, don't know what she was thinking but I bet most of us can foresee
what would have happened if these drugged up men had gotten in and
disarmed this young girl.

I just heard about this today at work. All I could say to myself as I read the story was GOOD FOR HER!!! She seemed to have kept her cool during most of the ordeal & only let loose when she knew she was within her right, and had no other choice.
The icing on the cake is that the other bad guy is being charged for the murder of his accomplice.

I know it's hard to believe but released on $50k bail is what I read. Apparently they are going to have trouble making a murder charge stick as it was his partner in crime that died. While he is stupid enough, I'll be surprised if he goes back. She has already proved that she will do what she has to.

95XL has a good point, I also doubt they will make the murder charge stick. I think the "guilty by accomplice" charge is probably a weak one, but one that the state prosecutor threw in there for maximum effect. Having a little experience recently myself with the justice system (!#*#&%X*@!!!), I bet this guy skates away with a fine & a wimpy probation period.
