Legislative changes result in a sad day for out-of-state carriers in VA.

On a side note.......take notice at the 0.11 mark....what have we here???!!!!!

Looks like somebody has a shoulder rig for a Dan!  Smooth grip, no checkering, could it be a large frame even?!  I guess really need to get that Utah permit, PA was one of the states dropped by VA.

They still recognize 5 states.

I got my CCW license in Texas back when the training and certification was fairly comprehensive.  Texas has backed off on the amount of training required now.  Though it still appears to be more than other states.  I seem to recall my sister, who lives in Georgia, telling me she was required to do very little proficiency training before getting a CCW permit.  And it shows.  One day she retrieved her little Ruger 9mm to show it to me.  She proceeded to sweep other people in the room before handing the gun to me.  Then I noticed the safety was off!  Yikes!...

A lot of people getting CCW permits these days.  Let's just hope a majority of them get educated on how to safely handle a firearm.

Looks like an out of stater will need a Utah or Arizona permit to carry in VA.  There is a class coming up in Feb that I'm going to take to get both my UT and AZ permits.  Too many states don't recognize our PA permits.

Where are those classes being held that you will be taking?

Whenever I visit my local Cabela's they have signs posted for Utah providers. The posting is done as a Public Service by Cabela's, they do not host the classes or offer them as a store purchased product. Also, the LGS's that I visit all have information for local trainers for Utah.

My guess is that the NRA website may offer resources as well, certainly their regional liaison people should be able to help.

Connecticut does not recognize any other states Permits, there are some states that will allow a CT Permit

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Local Bass Pro store.  My gun club also offers them from time to time, just not in the near future.

Has anyone been able o read the actual wording of the law?

If they have done as some other states ( i.e. CO, MI, SC, FL and a couple more I can't remember of the top of my head) a resident permit will be recognized but a non resident permit will not.  I am not saying this is the case but further investigation might be prudent.  I have four non resident permits besides my home permit.  Some States like those I mention above will not recognize my permit but will recognize a permit from the same State if the holder is a resident.
