Not sure I believe this survey. Even though I don't hunt much anymore, I now have more time to shoot as a sport and so own more guns than when I hunted more, so that somewhat flies in the face of their numbers.

My thoughts exactly. Same response I have when my doctors office hands me a medical history form that contains that question. Nurse told me I missed a question, I said 'no I didn't' and pointed to the blank saying yes right here. I replied 'NO, I didn't miss it'. She said, 'oh, ok'.

Guns what guns? Ok, sure I admit I own one. it's an old Iver&Richardson or something like that. 410 gauge I think. And a rusty flintlock rifle I hunt with. If any agency wants to know about my firearms there you go. That's my story and I'm stickin' with it.

Worthless propaganda coming from Chicago? A doctor friend told me they will be required to ask whether you own a gun. He said to lie. Never admit it to a health care professional. They will someday deny you health care. I refuse to participate in all polls as a matter of principal. I just wish I didn't need this phone. I have to start leaving my phone home and taking a gun everywhere instead(already do the gun.) I saw where someone had invented glasses that defeated facial recognition software. Maybe a tinfoil hat would work.

There are a couple of questions that I do not respond to on the "Doctor Survey", it's never been an issue
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

My first thought as well. Gun sales have been on an all time high since Obama was elected into office. Considering the survey comes from the University of Chicago, it would lead me to believe it's another one of those instances where the collected statistics were interpreted to support a predetermined point of view. I doubt there was anything "independent" about it....follow the money and I suspect you'll find Bloomberg or some other hater hiding in the shadows

When I looked at the referenced URL I got a video about a "gun buy back" by the local PD. I don't want to hijack the thread but how can a local PD or anyone buy back a gun from someone if they didn't sell it to them in the first place?
As to the OP, I don't generally fool with those surveys. In Missouri, I believe, there is a law that the doctor can't ask that question. Don't know for sure but they wouldn't like my answer to it any way. Interestingly my doctor shoots a Glock.

Anybody who's been to the Dr in the new year, did you happen to notice on the questionnaire for "the insurance co." did you notice they also ask like three different times and ways "how is your mental being?" "any anxiety?" "have you been depressed" "are you lonely?" that kinda crap... they are trying to trap us me thinks...

I'd seen the headline for this story around but didn't read it as I figured it was the usual BS. Ironic, but I recently received an invitation to join some group named AmeriSpeak….they send a couple of dollars cash with the promise of another 20 or so if you go to their website and take a survey. It also goes by the name NORC seen in the article and is sponsored by, or affiliated with the U of Chicago.
Thought about doing it just to see how they asked their questions and seeing their possible answers. It's easy enough to get the result you're seeking by carefully wording questions and offering only answers that skew in the wanted direction. After reading this I think I'll do it, just to see if it looks legitimate or bogus. Not like all my personal business isn't already known or sold on lists all over the country. A little insight into the redneck mind. Plus I get enough to buy a box of primers, or something.
