So way back when Ron Paul threw his hat back in again... I tried to get involved locally. That turned into a disaster as the County and State Republician party.. fresh from kicking the Tea party to the curb knew all the tricks to nueter any assualt on the status quo. Regardless, thats all over and done, but this rather active "liberty" still remained... so they formed a group "Mississppi for Liberty" :

It can be hard to get traction when more for something as opposed to against something. basically we, look at how the legislature votes and then either back them... or attack them. Rather, makes me think of the Gollum character in "The Hobbit". Any way I just got this email today:
Take action now to protect your gun rights in Mississippi:
HB 02 The most important piece of legislation for 2013 makes many needed clarifications to MS gun law:
Clarifies the definition of concealed
Changes the age for a concealed permit to 18 for military.
Deletes from MS Code Section 45-9-53 lines 50-54 as it conflicts with 97-37-7 (deletion states: “To regulate the carrying of a firearm at: a public park or at a public meeting of a county, municipality or other governmental body; a political rally, parade or official political meeting; or a nonfirearm-related school, college or professional athletic event;
HB 603 mandates that seized weapon shall be returned to the owner if charges are dismissed or the defendant is acquitted.
HB 149 exempts information regarding persons with a weapon permit from the Mississippi Public Records Act of 1983 (keeps gun owners names out of public print).
HB 701 authorizes persons who meet the requirements for issuance of a concealed weapon permit to possess a concealed weapon without a permit.
Oppose HB 424 requires written records of all ammunition sales.
HB 573 requires a permit and a mental evaluation to purchase an automatic weapon.
HB 501 declares that firearms are not subject to federal law or regulation if manufactured and contained within Mississippi.
HB 625 prohibits enforcement of Federal law regarding firearms, accessories and ammunition manufactured in MS that remains in MS; any Federal law that attempts to ban a semi-automatic firearm or to limit the size of a magazine or a firearm or other limitations on firearms in MS shall not be enforceable in the state.
How you can help:
Please contact your state representatives and state senators and let them know which bills your support or oppose. A phone call, a post card, an email letter – everything is good! Be sure to include your name and address with correspondence.

Sounds like you are running around with the right crowd-good deal! I know exactly where you are coming from-I have some friends that tried running for US Senate in PA. It's a long story, but I got to see dirty politics first hand...the "status quo" candidate got their high priced lawyers to sue my friends to invalidate the signatures they collected to get on the ballet....it was ridiculous for stuff like a person was registered as "William Doe" and they signed the petition as "Bill Doe" big lawyers argued it was not a "valid signature" Unfortunately my friends did not have the resources to fight the lawsuit, and got kicked off the ballet.

Only a couple things in the proposal that raise an alarm, record of ammo! and not sure where the if quailfied for conceal may carry with out permit, will work. IF keeeping guns and ammo out the wrong hands Fellons should be banished to some place where they can all enjoy each others company!
My thought is mandate every person over age 21 must own a hand gun! If you don't or can't well then mexico or cuba or canada would be a place for them!
Just a thought!
Great work in the state of Mississippi, hope other states get on board!
