Interesting color combo.
Why are you building, just because you like to, or does it save money?
-Mike
Yes on both counts, I am retired which always means more time than money !
But I enjoy diving into things that most would pay to have done.
I will see something I like or would like to do, and I read and study things from other people on the subject and then I get to work.
Paying for something is fine, but when you do it yourself you appreciate it even more so.

This is my home built re-build. It's a Colt Series 80 frame and slide. Every interal part was replaced with Wilson Combat components (all Bulletproof where available) with the exception of the barrel, which is the original. The grips are VZ 320s; the sights are Trijicon. The finish is Duracoat CADPAT pattern.

.
Forgot to mention WC beavertail, SpeedChute magwell, mag release, slide release and thumb release (all Bulletproof). Probably wasn't the cheapest way to go: gun was $700.00; WC parts $700; sights $115; grips $90; gunsmith to polish feedramp, hand fit all parts and Duracoat $275. But still cheaper than a Wilson Combat 45

Florida DW, that's a camo job unlike anything I've seen before. Just don't drop that gun in the weeds...you may never find it again!
It is a Duracoat pattern of colors called CADPAT. I think the coater has some discretion as to the pattern; I have an AR 15 to match it.
And not to worry, both fall into the category of never been fired.
