Springfield Armory LW Commander just the way I bought it for stupid low price
And after
Actually, one remaining step is to refinish the frame in AlumaHyde Semi Gloss Black
1) Slide was milled for a Novak white dot (someday it will be a gold bead front)
2) Evolution Gun Works Guide rod with flat wound springs
3) Nowlin Commander Match tune up kit
4) Wilson Combat grip safety, thumb safety, slide release
5) STI Infinity trigger (interchangeable inserts, I'm probably getting a longer, flat one)
6) Aluma Grips my son had made for me many years ago
7) Ed Brown MSH/Magwell with Snakeskin checkering (snakeskin is AWESOME!)
8) Mag release (which I don't like, it's getting replaced)
My son did the gunsmithing on this, I had already accumulated or received as Christmas gifts most of the pieces on this, so my "cost" on this is under $600.
I shot it a fair amount when I first got it about six months ago, and it's a really nice shooter. The Nowlin kit brought the trigger down from almost 8# to 4# 13 oz, I expect that some shooting and fine tuning will help bring this to under 4#.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

So the Springfield Armory Commander shot great today, now it gets torn down to Alumahyde the frame, and I will reassemble it after the finish cures in a week or so.
And a very nice range day today, we shot the Springer, the DW PM-1S, S&W M 59, a 715 with some VERY aggressive 125 gr JHP loads (they are getting broken down tonight, WAY over the top of what makes sense in a normal .357, it was almost painful!).
I am far from being a wealthy man. no amount of money could "buy" today.

That's sweet. Nice having a homegrown smith.
Certified Armorer for DOD personal and crew served weapons, soon to be a USCG designated marksman (sniper) instructor, a pretty fun guy to be around.
And a very well rounded sportsman and shooter.
