I was a bit bored today. Was watching this gun a S&W 19 357 Magnum and liked the grip it looks like a Zebra Dan Wesson grip. Anyway I did not think I would win it but did $1004 a good deal or bad? Made in 1981 Came in a very nice wood case and a Oregon State Police belt buckle! I was reading the thread on S&W guns and was looking at buying a couple. This was just an impulse buy. I have no idea I'd it was wise purchase. After shipping and tax $1150

I think so but until it's in my hands, I can't be sure. I thought the price was right but who knows. I was wondering if the seller (Keystone Arms) may have had a shell bidder. I had bid on it and then another bidder jumped at the last minute and ran it up from $827 to $985 so he took the lead. I them thru another $25 at it and he never came back to out bid me. I thought that a bit strange but I had set a high bid on $1025 on the gun I do this with all guns I'm bidding on to try and stay disciplined and not let myself get out of control or in a bidding war with someone. That's easier said than done but most of the time I stick to it. This was a bit different as I was not sure of the value of the gun so I stayed on the low side of what I thought the gun was worth. Also I had bought a Dan 744 pac 2 months ago and broke it up and made about $900 profit on it so this was voodoo money. I also sold my nickel 14 for $1299 last week I paid $739 for it so made a nice profit on it also. I should have just put the $$$ into the DAN fund and saved it for the next Dan but you guys spoiled that by posting the stuff about S&W revolvers so I just had to go out and buy something. I also tried something else I set the search for just revolvers and then set it for ending soonest and started looking for a deal! This is how I found this gun! Kind of a roulette wheel of guns to buy though I knew I was looking for a S&W revolver. I should have stuck to my first thought of getting a model 29 Dirty Harry gun but there was something about this gun I think it was the grip looking like a Zebra!

Well after looking around a bit I think I did ok, not great there are several of these type of 27's around seems like S&W put out several of these from the mid 70's to mid 80's. All these types of commemorative guns. Looks like I got a pretty good deal with the condition of this one. I see some going for the $900 range but the condition is not great. Others that are really good like this one I think it is going for $1200 to $1500. I think if I had used my head a bit more I could have gone after a model 29 instead but overall it's a very nice S&W early 1981 model in very good to unfired condition. Sometimes you get bored and try something new and it works out ok. I think I will keep it and move on to other Dans and maybe a model 29 say 1970's 8 inch nickel in the original hardwood box and also regular box and paperwork!
