Nice work on the first pic Pikepoola, great looking Diamondback too!
I like yours too, Jody & hope to find a few good examples myself, some day.
I agree that Colts are generally over priced (Smith's too, for that matter) & that's why my two are sort of the redheaded step children of the Colt family...they came cheap. I did find out though from an unconfirmed source that the MK III Colts ( Trooper, Lawman, Metropolitan, etc.) were the first to use the transfer bar mechanism.
Sorta cool in that regard, if it's true.

My latest purchase is a Colt Cobra with, a nearly impossible to find, Colt hammer shroud. The serial number of this pistol places the date of manufacture at 1961. The third picture down is of both of my Cobras. The serial of this other one puts the DOM at 1967. By 1967 Colt had shortened the grip frame, though it's hard to tell from the larger grips that are on this one. The Cobra has an alloy (aluminum) frame and are 6-shot.

I'd love to find a Diamondback or Python, but I never find one at an approachable price for me (and I live in Colt's Backyard )
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
