Looking forward to finding the load recipe it likes best. Hopefully I can get .250” groups at 100 yds.
And then it’s time ring steel at 1-mile!

Well, unfortunately my Dillon RL550 press will not throw consistent powder charges. When testing, it would charge from 1.2gr under to 1.3gr over totaling a 2.5gr fluctuation. Not good for long range precision. I thought a spherical powder like Winchester StaBALL HD would meter better than it does.
Looks like plan B is in order, a Lyman Gen 6 digital powder dispenser.

Powder drops don't meter stick powders very well.
All my Dillons work well with flake powders like Blue DOT but they do best with fine grain ball powders like H 110 and 1680.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

I use an RCBS Chargemaster but when being very precise I set it to throw 1-2 grains below the target and trickle up by hand to the charge I want. I've had SDs for 20 rounds consistently run less than 10fps using that technique. Of course, this is all for a single stage reloader (Forster Co-Ax).
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Dillon progressives and their powder measures are great for doing large volume for pistol or AR etc but if you're looking for high precision charges, especially for long range rifle competitions, a single stage and a trickler are a must.
I don't like stick powder in the Dillon drops.

I see, sounds like a good way to ensure precisely even charges. I’m gonna buy a Hornady Powder Funnel Die and pour the charges into the case that way. I’ll use my progressive like a turret style, but each turret has its own base shell holder.

Agree, I’ve had no issue with powder charges for 9mm using Titegroup. They are very consistent. My press came from a good friend (Art) and it came with tool heads and the associated dies installed on each head. I’ve got 9mm, 38/357, 45ACP, 45LC, 44mag, 445, & 223, but I’ve only done 9mm loading up to now. Probably about 3,500 loads of 9mm. This switch to load 300 PRC is my first time changing the press since I got it…and first time loading a rifle round. Thankfully Art’s been following me closely to make sure I don’t mess up!

Dillons are so easy to convert, especially if you've got dedicated tool heads for each caliber. Once dies are adjusted, its a 10 minute swap.
I just ran 250 357 this morning and getting ready to run some 360 tonight. I keep looking for a good used 650 so I can have one press set up for small primers and the other for large. That will speed up caliber swaps.

First bunch of shots thru my new custom 300 PRC rifle build. Shooting Hornady 225gr ELD-M ammo. Sighting the scope in and breaking in the barrel at same time. Got lots more shots til the barrel is seasoned. So far I’m really happy with the muzzle velocity I’m seeing! Once seasoning is done I’ll begin shooting my custom reloads to find its preference.

In hopes of finding the sweet spot, I’ve also loaded up 5 rounds of 76.8gr and also 5 of 77.2gr to see if the numbers get even better just a tad below or just a tad above 77.0. Also going to go up to 78.0gr to see if another node emerges. Max load per Hogdgon is 78.8gr. My plan is to not go much above 2800 FPS. Hopefully I find a sweet spot later today, I’m getting closer.
