Got me these Lignum grips made for (l think) a Security Six and fitted them to this gun. We see the trees growing around here but never considered a set of grips from them until l found these. They were honestly the most challenging ones to work with. The dark grain is really hard to carve, and has a dense, plastic like quality. The lighter grain being much softer and easy to work. Went through a couple of dremel bits adjusting the depth and shaping the edges to form. It's like carving granite, and with a Janka Hardness rating of over 4600, lignum is THE hardest wood anywhere. Mexican Ebony, or Katalox, is a close second at about 3800 (by comparison walnut grips are around 1500 hardness). So, they feel and look good enough. I Have the original 1967 grips but the early ones kinda suffered a bit in the attention to detail and finish dept.
