Found these old grips online, and thanks to the guy who got the carving started with a nice design l was able to turn them into my own thing without much effort. Just made it less rigid and gave it kind of a distressed look. My '62 looks good.

Ah, yes, the hoof...After the beating they took from the viewers when I first posted it l vowed not to ever put them on a gun again, so it's on a shelf and it looks ok as an ornament. Now, However, I'm attempting to make an oversized smooth grip for the large frame from scratch, using a 6x6x2 blank of this gorgeous Figured Curly Walnut I ordered, since I won't pay the outrageous prices they want for a pre-drilled blank which is way too small for it anyway...I like the original DW grip's feel when shooting it, but for looks I've always wanted a more robust, oversized and almost pythonesque grips for these guns ( on paper it looks good and it's encouraging) but I find there's no variety in style available out there for these round tangs, since they all pretty much stick to the original design with little apparent choice in overall size and style other than grooves and choice of wood.
