I’ve been a dedicated .357 Mag. revolver shooter for over 40 years. My DW and Colt revolvers have served me well, but when the urge to take on a .44 Magnum struck me, I decided to try a Taurus M44. Fit and finish is quite good. Weighing in at a hefty 52 ounces, and sporting a ported hammer forged full under lug barrel it tames the recoil associated with the .44 Magnum well. Accuracy is very good, and will likely improve once the Wolff reduced power spring kit I just bought this morning is installed. Only two complaints other than the heavy trigger pull: the front sight lost its red ramp insert after 15 rounds, and extraction of spent cases was quite sticky. I actually wanted a patridge front sight anyway, so I was able to install one with only minor fitting. I then used the Flex Hone tool to smooth out the chamber walls and all is well. I don’t feel bad about honing the cylinder chambers; I had to do the same to all three of my DW’s. From the photos, notice the quasi DW crane detent; this replaces the S&W style ejector rod latch. This revolver locks up tight! The rubber grips are on the small (slim) side, but are comfortable enough for now. All shooting was done offhand with Precision One 240 gr soft point ammo, 5 shot groups. Burns dirty, but is certainly accurate enough.

3ric,
That's a nice weapon! It should handle any load you throw at it.
I'm a .357 guy, but I have one .44, my 7.5" Super Redhawk. It weighs about the same, but no porting, so it bucks a lil' with the heavy Underwood loads. *winks*
