I took my first deer with this pistol and because of that it will always be my favorite. This gun is as accurate as any rifle that I've shot. My first trip to the range produced a 4 shot group of .900" at 100 yards. The 309 JDJ is made by resizing a 444 Marlin case inside of a 308 Win sizer die and then fire forming the brass with a reduced load. This produces a sharp 40 degree shoulder. The 309 JDJ equals the 308 Winchester and is designed to be safe in the Contender. The longer length and increased case capacity allow the 309 JDJ to operate at reduced pressures similar to a 44 magnum while still putting out 308 win ballastics. The result is a lightweight and better handling pistol than the Encore 308 win pistol. My hunting load is a 150 grain Hornady SST bullet moving at 2400 fps out of a 14 inch barrel.

Thank you for the compliment. I bought this grip set from:

This guy does outstanding work. I bought two grip sets from him and both are flawless and well beyond what I expected. I've got the other set posted on this thread under "350 gnr contender".
Here's another good source for custom grips. I haven't tried this company yet but I've heard good things and the pictures speak volumes for the quality level.

I use the grip set with this sling system, it's unbeatable. The sling acts like a 3rd arm to stabilize your shot. I would like to see one on a Dan Wesson supermag. Magnaport installs sling swivels on barrel lugs making it possible to put on of these on a supermag revolver with the full length barrel lug.

Very nice contender pistol you have there. I too am a fan of the single shots and have a few. That set up is just plain . A friend of mine has a 375JDJ G2 and I have loaded ammo for him and got to test my loads with it and what a hand cannon that is!
Thanks for sharing.

That's a great set up you have there. I know she has a little recoil even with that compensated barrel. I use the 30-30 and .223. The .223 hardly has any kick at all with the compensated barrel.
The top one came in the hunter package (30-30). The middle one is the .223 with the compensated barrel and the bottom is a .22 cal. match grade barrel. They are fun to shoot.
