I went to a large firearm auction on Dec. 8th and managed to come home with a stainless steel baby Browning clone made in Michigan in the 1980's. I'm holding my Dan Wesson .44 in one hand and this .25ACP pocket pistol in the other hand and am hypnotized at the difference. I've been playing with this .25 and I am just fascinated at how golly gee whiz small this is. I'm 6'-3' tall and my hands would be better described as paws. I can only get one finger on the grip and if I extend my index finger along the frame, it extends beyond the muzzle by 1/2 inch. This auction was AMAZING!!! The "story" was that an old gentleman owned a gunshop and passed away. His widow wanted to just get rid of everything, no kids to pass it down to, so the auctioneer got the inventory. There were new guns still in the box, old guns from the early days of Colt and Smith & Wesson, pistols, revolvers, rifles and shotguns. Sadly, no Dan Wessons. Over the 2 day auction they sold 1500 separate lots. The first day was Friday and that 500 lots of mostly cleaning kits, shotgun wads, reloading stuff, cases, slings, books, catalogs, signs, etc. The guns were sold on Saturday. My wife and I had a good time watching some high dollar stuff sell, including several double barrel shotguns that sold for thousands of dollars. There were a couple of original .25ACP pocket pistols from the early 1900's that sold for a lot more than I paid for the newer version. I didn't want a collector piece, I wanted a shooter. A GOOOOOOOOOOOOD day!

I get e-mails from an on-line auction site about anything in my area. I use Proxibid.com. Bidding on line is Holy Smokes expensive, but it gives me access to the catalogs of stuff being sold, and I can see what the on-line bids are so I know if it is worth while for me to go in person to the auction. I have seen several gun auctions run by the same auction house down in Florida (your neck of the woods). It's not every day that a whole gun store gets liquidated, but there are gun auctions all over the place. Just let your fingers do the searching.
