Went to the cabin last weekend, and took along what I'd say is my most prized possession to shoot. A Walther PP that my late uncle brought home from WW2.
He was a drill instructor before going overseas, that hat in the pic was his, he gave it to me when I was about 12. I know very little else about his service other than I remember he said he spent 38 months straight overseas during the war and served in N. Africa and Italy, I think he participated in the fight for Anzio. Unfortunately no surviving family members can remember his unit or anything. He brought back the Walther and a Beretta and stuck them away in a chest. My dad inherited them around '92 and gave me the Walther about 2 years ago. Last weekend was the first I shot it, it functioned like you would expect from fine German craftsmanship, beautiful to shoot. I think it was the second time since the war that it was fired. Took a couple pics before cleaning and stashing back in the safe.
