This was a RIA 1911 I traded for and used for a guinea pig build up.
I added a trigger and hammer group kit, magwell guide with wolff spring, beavertail, storm lake barrel & bushing. And did some polishing and fine tuning.
The finish was dura coat HK black/woodland green
The grips were 4x4 grips from Larry Davidson
What I ended up with was a very fine shooting RIA 1911. You might say a 100.00 dollar saddle on a 50.00 horse BUT I got to practice on it with the dura coat and it turned out good for a guinea pig.

I too have a RIA 1911. It is definitely an entry level gun but is rock solid dependable and prints good tight groups. I recommend them to anyone looking for a economy 1911 or what some folks call a truck gun. My only complaint is the GI sights leave a lot to be desired. But since I got my CBOB it mostly stays in the safe.

And a life time warrenty that goes with the gun from owner to owner not just the original purchaser ! The customer service is like DW service they stand out above the rest.
It is a pleasant experience talking to Arnel at Armscor, and he gets the job done.

Just curious, which trigger/hammer combo did you use? Was the Storm Lake a "no fit" set?
If I every quit playing around with DW projects, I'd like to do a basic 1911 build-up with drop in parts. I started doing that on a PT 1911, but traded it in midstream for a DW PM1S.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

The barrel was a storm lake drop in version and did not require any fitting.
The trigger group kit came from fusion and it fit great, it was a adjustable trigger and I adjusted the set screw to suit me , but did not require fitting.
This is the email of another good source for parts, he sells stuff on ebay and gun broker. Dirk is a great guy to deal with , very helpful. He can save you some money.
