I would like to put a scope on my DW .44 mag. I haven't shopped around yet for good quality magnum scopes. Years ago my dad put a scope on his Ruger .44 mag and the back lense shroud came loose after less than a dozen shots. Could anyone recommend one that holds up to the magnum recoil? I don't have to have stainless but I would like it to match my stainless DW 744. Many years ago I accidentally found an Uncle Mikes holster in a clearance bin that fits my 10" with a scope, should I put one on it.

I would not put "clamp-on" mounts on anything larger than a .357, so for your setup I recommend you tap & drill a shroud and do it right. You can also find T&D shrouds on GB and ePay, but who knows how well they were done. I'd send it to Norwich and get a factory job.
This makes a lot of sense. .44 Magnum and up can involve a lot of repeated heavy (to Big-time Heavy) shooting. Much better to build something that stands up to the long term need, and not something that is easy to bo now
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I do not have much experience with handgun scopes, I do have a Leupold mounted on my .357 Supermag that works well. Other guys I know like Nikon for handguns.
For a drill and tap mount I suggest the mount from the factory, I think it only comes in blue though. But a stainless gun and a stainless scope tied together with a blued mount would look great I think.

I haven't looked yet and if I can't find one I may have to create one for my personal application. But anyway when I was shooting rifle competition, the scope mounts were all securely bolted but the scope actually floated in the ring mounts under spring tension and they also had a recoil spring. You could bump these scopes pretty hard and because of everything being spring mounted they returned back to zero so to speak. So basically the scope is mounted in shock absorbers. If no one has come up with one of these for magnum revolvers I may be onto something.
