I have this one, that I stumbled into a good deal on quite a while ago at an estate sale. It is a US Army model 1917 .45ACP with moonclips, made in 1917 / 1919, with original holster with the soldier's name and loc tooled into it. I don't even know what its worth, I'd like to get it appraised.
I got a whole shopping bag of goodies with it, which included lots of old tins with gun patches, cleaning supplies, lots of old ammo, handmade wood cleaning rod, coins, knives, and more.
I'm thinking of getting a SW blue/wood .32 to be its little brother. Here are a few pics, including one with the DW, and NAA .22mag. Feel free to show me your S&W's.

That old Smith is really cool & the fact that you have a bunch of period correct goodies with it, makes it even better! I have no idea to it's value, but the whole cool factor is just about priceless. That melon thumper doesn't look like it was used much.
Sadly, I don't have any Smith pics of my own to add. I used to have a Model 29 a bunch of years ago, but sold it. I'd like to get another one sometime soon.
Thanks for sharing the

Very nice!!
I like the old non-shrouded ejector rod double action S&W and Colts.
The only S&W revolvers I have are J frame models. One in 22LR (M317), one in 22WMR (M351PD), and three in 38 Special. The 38S are one AirWeight (M642) and two AirLite Ti (M342 and M337). The AirLites are so light they feel like plastic toys .
All the other SW revolvers I've had I didn't like and sold or traded them off.

Guitar,
I have a few Smith's and I do like them, they are no Dan in the strength department for sure, but they are fine guns. I have often thought of making a photo shoot of them under other brands, maybe now you'll have provided the needed nudge to do this. I have a .32 DA in the group because I can't find one in a Dan.

I've sold off every S&W from my collection except for two… I kept a S&W 686 in 4″ simply because I think everybody should own one – BTW, my 686 is a "real S&W"–it has the firing pin on the hammer…
I also have a model K617 that I bought brand new back in 1992–beautiful gun. I immediately scoped it and used it for bagging squirrels back in PA. This gun is absolutely deadly with CCI mini-mags.

I have a few S&W's as well:
- Model 30 3" Round Butt 32 S&W Long
- Model 34 4" Square Butt 22LR (Bought this one to teach my little girl to shoot with, also have a ruger bearcat for that purpose as well)
- Model 16-4 6" Full Lug in 32 H&R Mag
- Model 48 6" 22 WRM
- 38/44 HD in 38 Special 5"
I picked up the 34 a couple of years ago and it has a lot of FTF's. I think it needs some heavier springs in it!

I've always wanted a model 34-- I'm into "trail guns". Last night I took the grips off the 617 and put them on the 686... What a difference 🙂 Now I have to build a nice case for the 686.
One nice thing about the DWF--it keeps your brain working.... 😉 After posting that I sold off most of the S&W's it reminded me that I have a box of S&W target grips I really don't need anymore. I really need to thin out my "Stuff"...

I bet! Those grips look like they'd feel pretty nice.
Apparently somebody else thinks they feel nice also...

My introduction to shooting was on a (police officer) friend's duty weapon, S&W Model 66 4". I keep an eye out for one at a good price, but I keep on buying Dan's instead.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
