My daughter-in-law is interested in getting a first pistol for possible CC. She likes the feel of a 1911 and the way they shoot. We recently found a SW40VE for less than $300 with two magazine and case. She asked me about but I have no experience with it. It looks like a sweet gun and I love my own SW 4506 but I have no idea what it would be like concealed or how it would be to shoot. Has anyone here had any experience with it? How about recoil, trigger pull, etc? Any advice would be appreciated.

If that is the Sigma, the new ones have a reputation of being reliable, but they all seem to have a heavy, clunky, gritty trigger, and fair accuracy. They are not widely loved, not much fun to shoot, and represent just about the bottom rung of what is acceptable from a quality manufacturer. Strongly urge you to consider alternatives, and if $300 is a cost limit, look for used instead. For example, a local gunshop in my area has a bunch of used S&W 4006's, a stainless DA/SA .40 S&W with adjustable rear sights and two magazines for $275. These are PD trade ins in good condition, so you know they are fully functional, probably armorer maintained, and most PD weapons are actually not fired that much. This is probably pretty similar to your 4506 but in .40, and this is the type of deal available if you look around.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
