Well, the conversation went like this:
Her: Babe, I don't know what to get you for Christmas.
(I'm deathly afraid of something lame-she's not a good gift giver, even though she means well and I love her to death)
Me: I've got something picked out but I'm afraid you won't like it.
Her: We should just get our own stuff and thank each other for it, anyway.
Me: Sounds good. I want a S&W 500.
Her: What's that?
Me: It's an utterly ridiculous revolver in 500 Magnum. .50 cal.
Her: Why do you need that?
Me: I really don't. I just want it. Bragging rights. Manhood compensation. Whatever.
Her: Merry Christmas.
Me:
Stock photo for now, but I should see it Wednesday/Thursday to my FFL.
Side note: she sent me a pic of what she got herself for Christmas. It's what I had in mind. I'm goooooood.

Several years ago I got a SIG 229 SAS as a birthday gift. She maneuvered me into the gun store on the pretext of getting something she said our son had mentioned needing, and said "Pick your Birthday present".
This was the first stop on a Connecticut Wine Trail/Bed and Breakfast long weekend that we had been planning. I'm sure no one at the B&B knew what was in the blue plastic box I was carrying in was, they'd have been horrified.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Cool if I send you our number do you think your girl could give mine a few tips. All kidding aside mine usually just ask-es me what I want and I usually get it. The only problem is it's kinda hard to get her to search GB for rare Dan's.

Yeah, this actually has me considering a reloading setup to put up in my man/guitar/jam room, though I don't actually see myself shooting it that often. I have problems enough with my hands, as it is! I wanted it, well, because I want it.

I know what u mean by wanting it. I have had a picture of the S&W 500
on the wall for 3years. Finally got enough cash and went to find one on GB.
Got a real good price on a S&W 460 instead. Looks exactly like the picture
on the wall. Shot it once, don't think I'll try that again any time soon.
But I want it.

I had a guy offer me one on trade for the Smith 620 ( plus some cash)... to expensive for me to shoot.

Well "newer" but now out of production. It replaced the model 66, with the added lock. To me it is just like a 686 BUT with a shroud/barrel instead of a one peice barrel like the 686. Caliber is .357

I can't help it, but the phrase "Hillary hole" is giving me an image that will keep me from sleeping well for several days.
