So I am at a job about 5 hours away from home, and have to wait on UPS to deliver some parts. I decide to go around the corner to the local gun shop. I don't expect much as their prices are always high. In the used gun case i spy a 744 With a 10" vent heavy barrel. I'ts in real nice shape, but $750! Ouch! Then I see a S&W model 66 snubby for $499, not a great deal but not bad either. I look it over and other than a slight turn ring the gun it is in pristine shape. It had been fired but only 3 chambers on the cylinder face have powder stains. The other 3 are perfectly clean. It appears to only have been fired 3 times. The gun quite nice, but as I said before not a smokin deal. Can they come off the price any? No, it is a consignment gun and that is what the owner wants. I immediately buy it for $499. So why am I so lucky? Look at the pics!

First time I ever shot a gun was with a friend (LEO in very rural MI) whose duty weapon was a 66 4". To this day I always keep an eye out for a 4" 66, I'll buy it just for sentimental reasons (well, I'll probably shoot it too )
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Steve,
I have owned or shot many different revolvers. The model 66 with a 4 inch barrel is IMO the best combination of weight, balance, and natural pointability. Of all my revolvers, that one is my favorite to shoot bar none.
A little more gun porn. These are all 66-2 's. Now just a 6" to complete the family.
