Ron,
I got my 7.62/308 garand about the time you ordered yours. Haven't been able to shoot it much because I'm having a load and feed issue with the en blocs.
I plan on going this next Monday to see if my fixes "fixed" it.
I had a 30.06 version in 2007 but had to sell it. As soon as I was able to scrape together the cash I ordered the .308.
Why 308? because I has a friend that gave me 1100 rnds of 7.62 he had left after he sold his M14.
You will enjoy it I guarantee,
Jim

PS- that's known as the DBU letter... don't bother us. I received it a month after I sent my order in. This week's letter states the Garand should ship in the next 30 days. My timeline:
Sent order in and they received it 25 APR. I received my DBU Letter May 20th. The order went in on 13 JUL and now I'm 2 weeks or less (with any luck) from unwrapping it. I guess I better collect some '06 brass...

It's on it's way! Received a FEDEX shipping notification tonight- Due to the house on Tuesday- glad I have a C&R- saved me $20 transfer fee.
So, the timeline was- Order sent 22 APR, Received 25 APR, Processed 13 JUL, shipped 29 AUG. A long wait by my standards but well worth the price I paid and it will be a shooter. Of course it wasn't as long as the search for the 745...

Done. Happy to see I have old wood (no comments needed, Bruce). Well worth the wait for the price. Serial number makes it post WWII, the barrel is dated 1954 with a throat reading of 2 and muzzle reading of 1+. Should be a shooter!
