This was in my email's inbox this morning. Thought I'd share. May have to pick one up this spring... gotta love DA revolvers.

It is interesting. MSRP is on the high end for a carry revolver but the Kimber reputation for quality might make it a seller. Will be very interesting to see if Kimber has other larger revolvers in the works.
If anybody here buys one of these we will need a range report.

I'll have to get the wife's S&W Airweight out and measure it. Here's a comparison of my DW Model 14 which I do carry concealed (IWB and OWB) to the new Kimber K6s. The Airweight is a 38 special +p, it's ok with those rounds recoil-wise, can't imagine a 357 round in something that lite though. However I'm definitely going to take a look at one of these when they get to a local dealer. (My DW 14 has Pachmayer gripper grips, height is measured from bottom of grip to top of front sight)

Ok, measured the Airweight, here it is next to the Kimber K6s
Kimber K6s S&W Airweight
- Caliber .357 Mag/.38 Special .38 Special +P
- Satin Finished Stainless Steel Satin Finished Stainless Steel (Cylinder and Barrel), Aluminum Frame (I think)
- Barrel Length 2 inches 2 inches (see text below)
- Trigger Pull 9.5-10.5 Pounds ?
- 6 Round Capacity 5 round capacity
- Weight 23 Ounces Empty 15.25 ounces empty
- Height 4.46 Inches 4.875 inches
- Length 6.62 Inches 6.375 inches
- Width 1.39 Inches 1.25 inches (cylinder, the Crimson Trace grip is a bit wider)
Barrel length on the Airweight is measured from the end of the cylinder. On my DW Model 14 this is 2.25 inches. Not sure where they measured the K6s. The Airweight has a Crimson Trace grip so it's a bit wider than the cylinder (at the top of the grip for the laser).

I consider myself to be marginally informed on Kimbers, but what I think I know is that they make an OK mass market 1911. Not sure how that makes them a good revolver maker, but remember that I said upfront that I am marginally informed.
On the other hand, we all know of a great revolver maker that became a great 1911 maker. If I needed a non-DW revolver it would be a Ruger (or just maybe a Charter Arms .44 Special Bulldog)
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I don't mind a Rooogar. I've had a few and still have a Bisley SBH, albeit SA. They are notorious for a constriction in the barrel where it mates to the frame. Fire lapping helps.
We have an Airweight with CT grips- it's the wife's nightstand gun. I have a few other S&Ws, my favorite being the Model 26 hand ejector (44 SPC). Recently traded into a S&W Mod 15-2 which shoots very well but it's nickel plated and in vg condition, so I probably won't shoot it much. Like I said- I'm a sucker for DA revolvers... oh, and I have a Kimber Compact Stainless so it would naturally be a good fit. We'll see.
