Just recieved my new Rossi 44 mag lever action rifle. Been wanting a lever gun for a while now. Did lots of research + lookin online + decided on a SS 24'' octagon barrel with a cresent butt-stock. Purchased from wally-world order catalog...took 10 weeks to ger er in. I wanted this just for plinkin off my deck...been shootin mostly 245 gr Lee tumble lube boolit over 6 gr Unique in 44 spl brass, also same boolit over 10 gr Unique in 44 mag brass. Some guys dont like pistol cal rifles, but i think there great ! Oh ya...almost forgot...rifle weighs 7 lbs 4 oz...dont hardly even kick...lol Any other fellas have lever guns ?

Thanks for lookin fellas ! I have a chrony comming soon and i want to compare the 44 mag rifle velocity against my 445 SM revolver with same boolit weights. Should be interesting. I read where the rifles pick up to 300 + FPS over the revolvers in 44 mag so im thinking this rifle will equal or surpass my DW 445. Anyway i'll let ya all know what i learn...take care.

About the quality i am very impressed with the Rossi. Wood to metal fit is very nice...better than i thought it would be. The finish on the receiver is almost to nice. Im thinking bout sand-blasting the receiver at a later date just to give it old time look. Theres goofy little saftey switch on top that kinda detracts a bit from otherwise handsome lines of the 92 action. Theres easy way to remove it and plug hole, so i will do that at some point. You really dont notice it while shootin. The barrel is left in a raw metal look and is very clean lookin. The rear sight is bout as cheap as what you find on cheap .22 but it has a U notch that works well with the front. I just had to open notch a tiny bit so i could see front blade...might try other sights at some point, lyman makes a nice globe with inserts. Overall im very impressed and it was money well spent. $465.

I have the Rossi (puma) in both 357 and 44 flavors. Mine are the original older models. They are great guns for the money.
The Rossi's have that real dark colored stock--it is actually a "paint" that comes off with a little work. The wood underneath is usually very nice; someday I'm going to strip both of mine down and give them a proper finish.
