Well, the wife and I are celebrating 18 wonderful years of marriage and I just found out that I am married to a schemer..... she has never done anything quite this sneaky before.
She had one of our close friends swing by this past week to hand deliver my anniversary gift. My buddy knew he was in possession of a rifle that I have lusted over for close to 8 years now. They both got together and decided to send said rifle my direction...... now known as the anniversary rifle. I haven't had time to get out and shoot it yet since I have been finalizing my departure from my previous career and don't hand load for this caliber yet. He was kind enough to bring along 100 rounds so I could play with it while waiting for reloading supplies to arrive.
I can't wait to send a few down range but this rifle is clearly not made for shooting at an indoor range with a 100 yard limit. Will need to get to the outdoor range to allow this rifle to be shot at the distances that it was made to shoot at.
Anyway, just thought I would share since I am really proud of this rifle- can't wait to shoot it. I am a lucky man.

Yeah, they do that sometimes. One birthday my wife tricked me into the LGS to buy me a new pistol. Part of a Bed and Breakfast weekend we had been planning for a while so I sat in our quaint little room breaking down, reassembling, dry firing, etc.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

And I can guess the cliber is 300 AAC?? My favorite long distance shooter is a 6.5 x .284. Nice looking rifle.
Thanks rwsem.
Actually, already loading for the 300 AAC. The rifle in the pic is a custom 22-250.
Rifle has a blueprinted 700 Rem short action with single shot steel baseplate. Refaced jewelled bolt with the Sako extractor mod. Fluted Shilen 26" 1/8 twist barrel, H&S Precision stock that has been glass bedded, and a 3oz. Jewell single stage trigger with a monster, old school Nightforce 8-32 with bubble level. I was given receipts for the work on this rifle and looks like there is very close to 5K invested in this rifle
It's definitely a BR rifle that should shoot really well.

Thanks for the compliments men.
It is a pretty major production to get to the outdoor range around here but I will have to at least get a few rounds down the pipe. If this rifle doesn't give a ragged single hole with boring regularity at 100 yards, I may be a little disappointed (but not too much). There is no reason that this rifle shouldn't be a tack driver since I own a pair of 16" black rifles that are easily capable of .75 moa if I do my part.
I suspect that I won't be able to stand waiting to get to the outdoor range so I will probably go indoors sometime this week. Jody, I will post a target once I get her dialed in.
