For a couple years now I have been looking for a semi auto ,non polymer, non 1911 carry weapon in 45 ACP. I've looked at and fondled several different options. I really wanted a C-Z 97 but it is so big I just did not like it ( wish they had a .45 in a frame size of 75 BD)  and the 97 was really designed to only reliably feed the round nose FMJ unless you get the Cajun Gun Works upgrades done. When the mood strikes I carry my C-Z 75 9 mm but who dont like a .45 on the hip sometimes ????

Ive been carrying a RIA officer size in .45 with Speer Gold Dot short barrel 185 gr in summer and a  Ruger SP 101 with Hornady .38 110gr in winter and rainy season.

So my search finally came down to and bought a Magnum Research Baby Desert Eagle III steel frame with 10 round mags and it has a de-cocker. I am not thrilled about having a rail but so many manufactures have rails now days whutcha gonna do ? this is actually my first hand gun with a rail. Im going to be starting the process of breaking it in this weekend or the coming week. Looks like leather holster options are everywhere.....steel frames and leather holsters make my world go round.

I know Dan has some damn fine 1911's but I cannot bring myself to putting one in and out of a holster.

Yeah, an EDC will never be a safe queen or Sunday BBQ gun .. it's gonna get wear and be exposed to sweat.

I am not sure about the Magnum Research Baby Desert Eagles but they used to be made by Tanfoglio  as is the Witness lineup. The best of them IMHO was the TZ 75 series 88 made in 1988 and 89. They are CZ 75 clones. They are to the rest of the world what 1911s are to Americans
