Welcome to the forum, you picked up a neat old revolver. I have the exact same model. Check out the 'Average Joe tuneup' thread in the reloading, gunsmithing and gripmaking forum. It is for newer models but the only difference for yours is the older porkchop style barrel shroud. Inside it will be the same as the Average Joe thread. If you run into issues or questions just post them up.

Welcome to DWF!
Refinishing decisions depend on what you want to end up with. DWF Member "hotbluer" can do a factory original bluing, he was a DW bluer.

I have never used Ford's, but they have a great reputation.
I have a Springfield 1911 that I'm going to refinish with a DIY AlumaHyde refinish from Brownells. My son uses this a lot (in Military applications) and swears by it.
And finally, I went a little crazy several years ago and had my local gunsmith refinish a 15-2 in bright nickel:
Cost a pretty penny, worth every bit of it (once!)
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
