Picked up a Smith & Wesson M&P 340 this afternoon … like new in box for $500 cash.
(not mine, but it looks just like this … yes it has the infernal lock)
Haven't seen one of these with an asking price under $700 in quite a while so I think I did well.
I can't get over how tiny it is (this is my first J frame … my other snubbie is a DW14-2 and my other S&W is an N frame…the only Colt I've got is an Army Special).
I don't think I'm brave enough to actually shoot .357mag out of it though (I like my wrist just the way it is thankyouverymuch). Thankfully it came with a baggy of 25 or so rounds of random .38 Spec.
Now I need to decide if I wanna keep it or flip it.

This was made for one purpose-to put the BIG DOG in a the smallest, lightest possible package. No one has ever doubted the ability of .357 mag to do the job, and you got a nice deal on the "git'er done" gun.
I would test it for reliability and function, stuff it full of the most capable .357 mag ammo I could find, and feel pretty good about my ability to defend myself.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Nice looking gun. I really like the black. The magnum's may not be as bad as you anticipate, assuming you don't have some injury or condition to your wrist. My model 60 is loaded with +P hollow points. Based on totally unscientific feel, they are a nice compromise between the magnums and the specials. The real factor is the volume. The magnums are really loud. If you keep it, I recommend a good trigger job. In SA mode it is an absolute blast to shoot. Congrats on the purchase.
