A friend of mine called me over to his truck and pulled out this shotgun. He said, take it home with you. He was selling this shotgun for a local banker. I looked at it and we finally agreed on a price that I thought was fair, so I bought it.
This is a Browing Auto 5 "Sweet Sixteen," shotgun. This one was made in Japan. This Sweet 16, Japanese version was made between 1987-1992. They are fairly rare to find. It was in 1976 that Browning moved their factory from Belgium to Japan. Browning made the 16 ga. shotguns from about 1932 upward. The "Sweet Sixteen" is different from all the other 16 ga. Auto 5 models in the sense that it is lighter and it has "Sweet Sixteen written on the left side of the receiver. This one has some really beautiful wood in it. It was made in 1987. The Browning Auto 5 style like this one was discontinued in 2000. Dove season will be here before you know it. A couple of pics:
