For you M14 lovers, I just “built out” a nice M14 SOCOM 16. Took a NIB SOCOM 16 and mounted it in an original USGI stock; (1103) Sykes marked (subcontractor to Springfield Armory); Non-serif "P", half moon punch ferrule; DoD stamp is clear, circle P.
Sent the military two stage trigger to Smith Enterprises for a SEI S-7 trigger and hammer axis pins with silicone-chrome hammer spring and re-parkerization with M80HT heat treatment. Used a SE stainless steel gas cylinder; SOCOM gas plug (suitable for future sound suppression); SE extended bolt stop/release; SE US Coast Guard / Navy Muzzle Brake; and a SE National Match rear sight and a front Tritium Close Combat Sight (TCCS).
Finished it off with a Sadlak lightweight aluminum scope topped off with a Millet DMS scope; Titanium Nitride-coated National Match gas piston; heavy duty front rail; and Harris bi-pod.
I haven’t fired it yet, but it should do the job.

Sold my Colt Sporter when the offer was right, last year. Still have the 450 Bushmaster and my across-the-course upper.
Spike's is doing the Squadron's Commemorative Rifle, so I'll pick one of those up as I'm heading up that project...

Florida,
I am not into the full auto as far as owning one, but would take the opportunity if it ever presented itself to try one out just for the sake of it.
There's some place in KY where they hold a machine gun shoot every spring. An old friend of mine used to go there every year.
I'm sure info is available on the web somewhere.

The Class 3 SOT that I work with for my NFA transfers does Knob Creek every year. The videos are GREAT. There are a couple of ranges north of Tampa that are NFA friendly that have shoots pretty regular. Not as big of a crowd as Knob Creek, but close to home and not as crowded as Knob Creek. The FAs are a blast (so to speak) to shoot, but can get expensive if you get carried away. Thank goodness for the soviet surplus ammo. The AK eats it up.

I could see by some of the pictures posted and the comments made you guys needed to see what a real AR collection looks like.
The first 10 leaning against the wall starting from the left are 308s. There are 34 AR 15s, 10 of which are SBRs; there is one M16 among the group.
I don't have the time to describe each but the run from a DPMS Sportical to several custom built units. Two of the 308's are zeroed for 1000 yds.
