Our daughter and her kids are always around. She and I just received our CCL permits. However, a while back Our son visited from CA and brought his kids.

This started a Range Day activity.

But first: My first handgun, which I still own, was an H&R 9-shot revolver that I bought at the local hardware store when I was 16. Yeah, that was a long time ago.

When I decided to get an adult handgun in the early eighties I wanted a Python.  Of course, Pythons were unobtainable at that time.  However, my gun store guy was also a DW dealer. He suggested a 715.  I also bought a 744 and so I now have a large collection of Dan's.

However, I always wanted a fully engraved revolver.  A few months ago SK produced a limited run of Engraved Stainless Anaconda's. An engraved snake gun? I bit.

This meant that when my son was visiting, Range Day would include a test of my new Anaconda against my 744 Dan. I began by removing the VH8 barrel assembly and installing the VH6 assembly to keep the comparison fair. Let me say this about that; I find the Dan a much better gun.  Oh yes, the polished and engraved Anaconda is beautiful.  No question. However, The Dan is much more pleasant to shoot. Yes, I'm prejudiced but so is my index finger on my right hand which took a beating from the Colt. The reason, of course, is the Dan is heavier and has a better (IMHO) grip design. And with my skills, the Dan is just as accurate as the Colt.

Anyway, my wife stayed home with the younger grand kids while my daughter, son, and eldest grandson went to the range. We started him out on a 722VH6 and then let him have a go with a 722MVH8. All of us had a great time and my grandson began his revolver experience. Planning on doing it again next time they visit.

Unfortunately, range time in the future will mostly involve the cheap semi-auto's my daughter and I bought for concealed carry, because you better be damn accurate with your self defense gun.  We will continue to reserve  time to shoot our favorites also.

Great range and family time report.  I've never owned or fired a Snake gun, so it was interesting hearing your comparison between the two in regards to reaction to shooting them.

All range time is good but the range days with Family are best!

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

There are snake guns and then there are Pythons. The older one. The trigger is like a combination lock slipping into place. Soooo smooth. My 4" 1960's gun is as accurate in DA as SA.

Husband & Wife Day at the range.    Better with the PM9 than the 722..
