Today I took my youngest daughter and her boyfriend to the pistol range. My daughter has shot handguns before but her boyfriend has not, he hunts and has shot rifles but not much handgun shooting. It was beautiful today and the range which opens at noon on Sundays was crowded but we managed to get a shooting point. I took along a variety of Dan's and a couple others just to give them both some different experiences. We started with the 722 with the red dot I got from Steve, quite the tack driver at 20 yards, even for a novice. I also took along a Ruger SR22 which didn't see much use as both kids preferred the wheel gun, go figure. I graduated them up to a 732 VH8 which they both liked also. We moved on to my favorite little shooter, a High Standard MKIII 4 inch 357 mag. The BF was a bit apprehensive about shooting it once he saw the flame from the BC gap while I demonstrated. My daughter shamed him into trying it after she ran four or five cylinders of respectable mag loads through it. After this introduction, it was time for the long pants and I broke out the 741 VH6 and ran some medium magnum loads through it. I expected one or both kids to decline but my daughter, all 100 pounds of her, asked to shoot it first. I was quite surprised that she not only handled the recoil fine but she was actually shooting very well and grouping nicely at the 20 yard target! Her BF looked a little intimidated but couldn't loose face in front of a girl so he ran a few cylinders through. He mentioned that it stung his hand and noted his palm was getting red. My daughter laughed, took the gun and proceeded to finish off the ammo I brought along for it. All in all she out shot the BF and to some degree her father too! She is a natural despite being very petite. It was funny listening to all the comments from other shooters about the 'cannon the little girl was shooting'. BTW she is 19
I got some great video that I put on Facebook but can't figure out how to post it from my phone, so a few pics will have to do.
The BF shooting the 741 and my daughter shooting the HS
My daughter shooting the 741 and doing quite well.

I believe he does, especially since at the end of the day I said 'I have one more gun to shoot' and proceeded to do a quick draw of my little LCP and do a rapid fire mag dump. He didn't know I even had it on me until that moment, you should have seen the look on his face, lol. I needed to expend that ammo and load fresh so this was a great opportunity!

I'm sure he knows where I stand after this pre prom pic from last spring.
BTW the pic was my daughter's idea, she saw something similar on Facebook and wanted to have one taken like it for here prom pic. She has my sense of humor, she didn't tell the BF about this until he showed up to pick her up for the prom. His eyes were big as baseballs when he walked into the house. We all got a good laugh out of it!

Actually, all joking aside, my guess is that both of them have a pretty good idea of smart/not smart.
The apple does not usually fall far from the tree, good looking kids
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
