Had my first outing with my new to me 8” 741. I just picked it up Friday and haven’t had time to go to my regular club this weekend since it’s in the next county over. I have a can in NFA jail at an indoor range close to my house, so I figured I’d kill two birds with one stone. I shot 50 rounds of 210 gr. jacketed over 7.7 gr. W231 at the range limit of 15 yards. My Garmin chrono was all over the place, then I realized it was picking up shots from adjacent stalls on either side of me. It’s never done that at the outdoor lanes at my club, but then again I’ve never used it right next to another shooter. From the shots I know I made, I had an average of just over 1000 fps. This same load will do about 900 fps in my S&W models 57 & 58, and around 850 in my 657 snub.

I really love this revolver! Very minimal recoil, about like shooting mild .357’s in my 6” 686. The DA trigger pull is going to take some getting used to. The travel seems longer than most of my S&W’s. SA was very accurate for me and I think this revolver has an accuracy potential that far outshines my shooting ability. I can’t wait to mount a scope on it and try pushing it out to longer ranges at my gun club.

Very nice, my favorite caliber in any revolver.  Nice shooting!

Great shooting.  I love shooting my DWs. I especially enjoy my 41s and 44s. The large caliber Dans are much more comfortable to shoot than my Rugers or S&Ws.  laugh

Great to hear your take on comparison with your Smiths.  I wonder how long it is going to be until your next Dan purchase!

Hope y’all don’t find it offensive that I’m making those comparisons.

I’m already looking for another one! Not really many around, I’m finding. I just happened to luck into this one locally.

Not offensive at all, likely most of us have many other brands too, but we tend to favor Dans.  I have several Smiths and Colts and Rugers, but way way more Dans.

I have same issue, there’s virtually never a Dan for sale locally.  I tend to buy from other forum members when possible (saves on sales tax!), but also from GunBroker.  But, I try to only buy off GB when I really want the Dan badly.  I hate their fees.
