I participated in my first ICORE match this morning and had an absolute blast !
We had six Stages, with one shooting from behind a barricade through very small windows at targets in challenging positions requiring leaning to gain clearance. Another was engaging three targets outside a building, then entering and engaging targets via doorways and windows. I nailed every steel with the first shot, but only got 13 'X's. Shot a total of 156 rounds.
I have some work to do, but can't wait till next month.

I was using MagTech .38 Special with a 158-grain LRN bullet, rated with a muzzle velocity of 755 ft./sec.
Rules state that ammunition must produce a minimum power factor of 120 (Power Factor = bullet weight in grains multiplied by velocity in feet per second divided by 1000).
This produces a PF of 119.29 .... Oops !

Just got back from my second ICORE match ... had a great time, met some new friends and learned new techniques watching some of the veterans.
This time I used a Dan Wesson 15-V8 with an EWK fiber optic front sight, which performed better than I did, although there were two failure to eject near the end of the match, but it was probably pretty dirty after 150-rounds. I had to spin the cylinder to just the right angle, hold the ejector rod down, reach around the extractor star and pry it out with my fingernail. Talk about eating up the seconds !
Seems like I'm constantly scrambling to keep up. If you are not the shooter, timer or scorekeeper, then you are out sticking target holes and righting steels. Most shooters use 8-rd. moon-clips, which are easy to retrieve, but here's me collecting all my brass one case at a time and picking up the empty speedloaders. Then getting my stuff into my duffle and humping it to the next bay our stage is set up at. Whew! Everybody else has those portable folding wagons to pull around.
Wally World, here I come !!!
